Cross the Wannies is an informal group of musicians who have, over the last 30 years, met in and around Redesdale and North Tynedale to play the traditional music of Northumberland; both old and new.
The Lockdown Ledger is a collection of nearly 40 tunes composed by members of the group over the last 18 months and many of the tunes composed in direct response to the pandemic, and events occurring during this time. Prior to lockdown these tunes would have been introduced at meetings as each month went by, people picking them up as they are played, and with the ‘dots’ often following after. This book brings all of the these new tunes together in a single collection to be shared and played by all.
The Ledger is published in October 2021 and available online as well as at local events.
